Welcome to Soham Museum
Soham Museum is a living history museum project working towards premises. Established in 1998, Soham Museum is renowned for its dynamic outreach programme and excellent variety of local and social history talks, events and activities that are held at venues across Soham throughout the year. We hold a collection of over 4,000 items of local and social interest in trust for the community of Soham and run an active research programme focussing on our local history and aspects of life in the past on the East Cambridgeshire fen edge.
Soham Museum History Group offers an annual programme of bi-monthly talks on themes such as local, social, regional and military history. We only book the best speakers and you are guaranteed an entertaining evening. Please click the above button for details of our next event. All welcome.
Archaeology Cambridgeshire East or ACE is a subgroup of Soham Museum. We are professionally trained volunteers mentored by Oxford Archaeology East, with a remit to explore unrecorded and under recorded archaeology along the east fen edge. ACE offers budding archaeologists of all ages and levels of experience the opportunity to learn about and carry out archaeology in our local area. Please see our dedicated page under museum 'subgroups'.
Soham Local and Family History Group is the research group for Soham Museum. We meet at Soham Library 6 evenings per term for shared learning and to discuss our research projects, we also carry out fieldwork on a few evenings over the summer. If you would like to help with our research or learn how to do your own local and family history research Soham Local and Family History Group is for you. We are free to join and offer a friendly welcome to new members.
